Open Standpipe Piezometer

The Geotech standpipe piezometers or filter points are manufactured with a bronze filter on a steel body. With its large contact surface with respect to the hose diameter, the piezometers have a short lag time.

The filter points are driven statically or dynamically into the ground, without pre-boring. Those without a hose are driven with standard 1” hollow extension rods, those with a hose, with a first 1” rod, a slip coupling followed by any extension rods.

When the filter point without hose is at the desired depth, the 1” rods are left in place. For the point with a hose, pull up the extension rods, leaving the connection rod and filter point extended by the hose. Cut the hose at an appropriate level above the ground.

The water level is measured with an electric coaxial cable delivered with a reel. The reel is equipped with a battery and a gauge. When the cable is lowered in the hose, a current is applied and the short circuit occurring at the water level is displayed on the gauge. The cable is stiffer than normal cable and is coated with teflon to facilitate the lowering in the hose.
