A common method of deep stabilisation of cohesive soils in Scandinavia is to reinforce with lime or lime/cement columns. The inspection of these columns is done by pressing or pulling a Ø36 mm probe fitted with two vanes through the centre of columns. From the measured or calculated probe resistance, the shear strength of the column is estimated.
